I went, and I survived.
It was quite different than I was expecting. I’ve been to aerial yoga more than a handful of times, and I thought I knew what to expect. This aerial boot camp class (at a different studio than the one I’d previously gone to) was much…dancier…than I was expecting.
I am not a dancy person. I was also surrounded by tiny, skinny dancer types. Which made me feel extra-lumbering.
I did enjoy it though! We started with warm up and stretching, which involved a bunch of squat jumps and push ups and shoulder rolls, among other things. We then moved on to a circuit of aerial moves, using the silks and hoops. You use a lot of hip flexors and core strength, which are my notorious weaknesses. My hands also got super tired!
This morning I have sore abs and shoulders, and can really feel my bike calluses. While it was nerve wracking and super hard, I am excited to go back on Thursday!
